Testimonials:

A Mother's View:

Both my children, Leah (10) and Landon (7), have been taking classes at
Mass Martial Arts for over a year.  When I first brought them in, we had a long
discussion about my son who, along with some sensory issues, has LOTS of
energy and was not very good at channeling it.  Master Tony Massengill
assured me Landon would not be an issue and to trust  that this would be a
good outlet for him.  I was very concerned that his lack of attention would be
an annoyance to the rest of the class and I was sure Tony would call me in
less than a month and tell me that he was unable to concentrate long enough
to learn anything.

Almost a year and a half later, I am beyond thrilled at the progress both Leah
and Landon have made.  They are both so proud to be green belts and
leaders in their class.  The skills and techniques they have learned will serve
them for the rest of their lives.  Landon has been a big parenting challenge
for me, and I see a remarkable change in him not only in your class, but also
at home and at school.  He has learned life lessons through the classes and I
am grateful.  Tony told me to trust him, and I am so thankful.  Leah has
already shown an ability to defend herself, and it came naturally and quickly
and for that I am also grateful.

Mr. Massengill is running a wonderful program based on self-defense, life
skills, discipline and commitment to learning.  Both Leah and Landon's
development are a true testament to Master Massengill's dedication to his
art.

Another Mother's view

I cannot even begin to express the difference this class has made, in
not only my daughters’ life, but our family’s life.  We cannot believe the
changes in our daughter. She has gone from being sassy to being
polite, well mannered, confidant, willing to try new things and actually
wanting to eat healthy foods and to exercise. My husband David and I
are so proud of her and all of her accomplishments, but more
importantly, she is proud of herself.
We have been to other Martial Art studios. To us, they mostly seemed
in it for the money and not the development of the person. I can assure
you that MASS Martial Arts care about the person. My daughter adores
it and can’t wait to go to class. This has been one decision that we will
never regret and we will always be thankful for because of the life skills
it has given our daughter.

Sincerely,
Stacy Combs
An Educators View

Teachers are role models who create a learning environment to
provide guidance, encouragement, and unconditional positive regard
as well as constructive criticism. A truly talented teacher has the ability
to adapt their teaching methods to accommodate individual learning
styles. Since beginning the MASS Martial Arts program in 2003, I have
come to know Sifu Massengill as more than just an instructor, but as a
talented teacher and an ideal role model.
Research based programs used in our public school systems that
have roots in both psychology and education have been proven
effective in teaching a variety of behaviors, from both academic
competencies to sports, daily living skills, and vocational skills. The
same principles of learning and teaching children to generalize
desirable behaviors into home, school, and community settings are
apparent in the MASS martial arts program. A well-structured athletic
program is designed to do this by instilling character development and
“life skills training.” The MASS Martial Arts program can truly be
considered a “Life Skills Academy.”
